How to top up your existing eSIM
Top-ups add more data + days to a SIM you already have installed. No new QR code, no reinstall. Same provider, same line — you just pay for more allowance.
Steps
- Sign in at esimple.ai/account.
- Find the order that contains the SIM you want to refill.
- Tap the order to expand it — your Active SIMs show a Top up this SIM → link.
- Pick a top-up plan from the list. We show only plans from the same provider as your original SIM (you can't cross networks during a refill).
- Pay — the standard checkout flow with Apple Pay / Google Pay / card.
- The top-up applies within ~30 seconds of payment. You'll get a confirmation email.
That's it. The existing eSIM picks up the new allowance automatically — no settings changes on your phone.
What if my SIM isn't Active yet?
You can only top up SIMs that have been provisioned (status: Active). If your SIM is showing Provisioning, wait a minute and refresh. If it's been longer than a few minutes, the SIM may have hit a provisioning error — contact support@esimple.ai.
Validity after top-up
The top-up's validity period adds to the SIM. So if your original 5-day plan has 2 days left and you top up with a 5-day pack, you have 7 days total from now.
Data allowance also adds — the original remaining + the top-up's allowance.
Pricing
Top-ups are priced the same as new-SIM plans for the same data/validity combo. We don't markup top-ups; the savings come from skipping the reinstall hassle.
When a top-up isn't possible
A few cases where you'd buy a new SIM instead:
- You're in a different country than the original SIM covers. Top-ups stay on the original SIM's network footprint.
- You want a different plan family (e.g., switching from a "1 GB / day" plan to a "10 GB / 30 days" plan). Buy a new SIM.
- Your provider doesn't support top-ups for that plan. Rare; we'll show "No top-up available" on the account page and you can buy a fresh SIM instead.
