Check Your Device Supports eSIM
Most phones from the last 3–5 years do. Here's how to confirm before you buy, by brand.
Apple
Any of these support eSIM:
- iPhone: XS / XR or newer (2018+). iPhone 14, 15 and 16 sold in the United States are eSIM-only — no physical SIM tray at all.
- iPad: iPad Pro 2018+, iPad Air 3+, iPad mini 5+, iPad (7th gen)+.
The quickest in-phone check on iPhone: Settings → General → About → scroll for EID. If you see an EID number, you have eSIM hardware.
Samsung Galaxy
eSIM-capable models include:
- S series: Galaxy S20 and newer (S20, S21, S22, S23, S24).
- Note series: Note 20 and newer.
- Z Fold / Z Flip: Fold 2 and newer, Flip 1 and newer.
- A series: A54 and newer (varies — check your region).
Note: some regional variants of Samsung devices ship without eSIM hardware. The safest check is in-phone: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → look for "Add eSIM." If the option is there, you're good.
Google Pixel
Pixel 3 and newer all support eSIM. The Pixel 7 family onwards supports dual-eSIM, so you can run two eSIMs at once.
Check: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → "Download a SIM instead?"
OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, others
Support is patchy and varies a lot by region and model. As a rough guide:
- OnePlus: OnePlus 11 and newer typically support eSIM. Earlier models depend on region.
- Xiaomi: Xiaomi 12T Pro, 13, 14 series support eSIM in most regions.
- Oppo: Find X3 Pro and newer in select regions.
- Motorola: Razr 2019+ and selected newer flagships.
For any of these, check Settings → look for "SIM card manager" or "SIMs" → "Add eSIM" / "Download a SIM." If the option exists, you have eSIM hardware.
The universal IMEI check
Dial *#06# on any phone. The screen will show your IMEI. On eSIM-capable phones you'll also see an EID number alongside it. EID present = eSIM hardware present. No EID = no eSIM.
You can also paste your IMEI into your manufacturer's coverage / spec lookup, but the EID check is faster.
Still unsure?
