Will my phone work with esimple?
Two things have to be true for an eSIM to work on your phone:
- Your device supports eSIM. Most phones from the last 3–5 years do.
- Your device isn't carrier-locked. A locked phone only accepts eSIMs from the carrier it's tied to.
Devices that support eSIM
- iPhone: iPhone XS / XR or newer (released 2018 onwards). iPhone 14 + 15 sold in the US are eSIM-only.
- Google Pixel: Pixel 3 and newer.
- Samsung Galaxy: Galaxy S20 / Note 20 / Fold 2 and newer (most variants — region-specific exceptions exist).
- iPad: iPad Pro from 2018, iPad Air 3 and newer, iPad mini 5 and newer.
If your device isn't on this list, check the manufacturer's support page for "eSIM" — coverage on Android is wide and growing.
How to check if your phone supports eSIM
The fastest way:
- iPhone: Settings → General → About → look for EID in the list. If it's there, you have eSIM.
- Android: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → look for "Add eSIM" or "Add mobile plan."
You can also dial *#06# on most phones — if the result includes an EID number, you have eSIM hardware.
How to check if your phone is unlocked
- iPhone: Settings → General → About → look for Carrier Lock. It should say "No SIM restrictions."
- Android: This is harder to check on-device. The reliable test is to insert a SIM card from a different carrier — if it works, the phone is unlocked.
If your phone is locked, contact your home carrier. Most will unlock it for free after a usage period or once the device is paid off.
Still unsure?
Email support@esimple.ai with your phone model and we'll confirm before you buy. If your device turns out not to support eSIM after purchase, we'll refund — see the refund policy.
